Top 25 Health Benefits of Honey and Cinnamon

Reduce belly fat with honey and cinnamonWhen natural ingredients are combined together in certain proportions, they work great to cure many conditions. One of such amazing combination is honey and cinnamon. This combination has been used for centuries to promote general well being and cure many conditions and ailments. Although, there is a lack of scientific evidence, many people swear by this simple home remedy.

This natural treatment is well known in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Unani Medicine (Greek), ayurvedic and Tibb (which means the science of medicines based on natural treatment in the East).

According to experts in Chinese Traditional Medicines, cinnamon is hot. It produces heat in the body which is known as “yang”. Yang cures “yin” which means coldness. Honey, on the other hand, is neutral and it balances both “yang” and “yin”.

Before I list the curing properties of honey and cinnamon combination, it is extremely important to know the true cinnamon and distinguish it from cassia. True cinnamon is also known as Ceylon cinnamon. The fake or cassia type is toxic and is not recommended for medication or regular use. It is even banned in some countries.

For more information on how to identify true or Ceylon cinnamon read this article. How to differentiate between Ceylon and Cassia cinnamon?

What an interesting article. Believe it or not, I own a Cinnamon & Tea plantation in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and I grow that most amazing spice. I am also now raising honey bees and harvest my own honey which I give to friends who LOVE it. I’m really intrigued to try the two together now and I thank you for opening my eyes to the wonderful benefits of these two products together. If you are ever visiting Sri Lanka, there are many Cinnamon farms with guest accommodation … seeing the peelers at work is really something.

    • Qadar Khan

Yes, Paddy. Thanks for your comments. I would love to see the Cinnamon farms in Sri Lanka in person.

I have started taking this for a few days and was told about this recently. I use a glass bottle and have half before bed and half in morning before eating anything. Im hoping to lose weight and cleanse at the same time. But one think I have noticed yesterday is I don’t actually feel like smoking either. I ran out of cigarettes and was gonna buy this morning but decided not to …i’m really hoping that aspect sticks as well as the other benefits,

    • cinna-man

Be sure you are adding the honey to the mixture when the mixture is cooled or the enzymes will be killed and the properties lost. Be sure you have raw honey. Most grocery store honey is not raw. Not knowing your situation if there is anyway to exercise do it. Find a way. Use ceylon not cassia cinnamon. Most grocery store cinnamon is cassia and has extreme amounts of coumarin, a toxin. That toxin challenges the liver and kidneys which may be the source of your weight gain.

Hello there hello there to all converts. My story starts when I had to give up my work, working in the paint industry in 1993. I became so vey I’ll to the extent where I was bed ridden for some months. Upon tests and many Specialists, it was discovered I had Fibro Myalgia / Chronic Fatigue and Chemical Poisoning caused by the Chemicals. Tests showed Lead, Arsenic, and many other traces of poisons. Always working 1 to 3 jobs at a time in the past, I found my body letting me down constantly. I caught Ross River a few times, had Lepto Sperosis, had Glandular fever and when my body would have enough, my Fibro Myalgia and Chronic Fatigue would shut me down. Again in bed until I could build myself up again for another burst of life. Life to me is something to be cherished and lived, so these setbacks were something that did not sit right with me….both emotionally and physically.
I was told about Cinnamon and Honey….4 heaped tblspns Cinnamon and 2 teaspoons of Honey….All I can say is WOW….. Within 48 hours I was noticing a change. My muscle and bone pain had diminished, I was feeling more alert, I was sleeping like a baby, my skin was looking more hydrated and youthful, my Rheumatoid arthritis pain and Carpul Tunnel pain was lessening each day. I was feeling so alive. And do you know……one added bonus……I am losing inches and not even having to try. At 58yrs of age and finished Menapause, the tummy, nana arms and midriff we’re looking more like dimpled spare tyres. Well……..within 2 weeks, my tummy starting to flatten out, my manna arms were tightening and my midriff didn’t look like my boobs, ( in the wrong place )
I now am back to working full time, and have been blessed to now work in the Aged Care Industry. Loving life, and being able to live it to the fullest. With my 3 beautiful Grand daughters visiting me from Victoria next weeks, I know that I am going to have the energy and flexibility to run around with them, for the first time ever.
I am such a convert of this miracle concoction that I buy in in 5 kilo lots. I have put so many others onto this remedy, and they also have noticed positive changes. One little extra change I have started to notice, is that my hot flushes ( which didn’t stop after menopause) have started to decrease in their frequency and intensity.)
Instead do throwing away the left over paste, it makes a great face scrub, and if you add the honey, is a beautiful mask which leaves your fave feeling young and youthful.
    By the way…………..
    This new body…..new job……less pain……more energy…..
All of this have occurred within the last month.
YES…….I have only been drinking this tea for 1 month.
Remember….I am taking 4heaped tblspns cinnamon 2 reasons Manukau Honey.
For those who wish to have change in their life…..Give it a go….
    It is so worth it.
    Cheers

    • PC Bob

OMG! FOUR tablespoons of cinnamon? Can you imagine how that must taste? I suspect this is was a scam!

  • Jimmy

Pls where is this Dr. Okoh from ….. I smell fraud here.

    • Reed

It is a fraud /scam this person has used this same message under various diseases and websites claiming to be cured by an alleged doctor who has a gmail account and uses a free website with a mobile number. No accreditations,.no practice no doctor. ‘ Dr Okoh’ is as genuine as Doctors Seuss and honest as Dr Harold Shipmam.

I thank Dr Okoh aka Susan Moore aka whoever it is for your humour, it is much appreciated when one is genuinely ill, however what is not appreciated is deceit dishonesty of scam artists preying on sick people whose sole intention is to defraud them of their money or identity etc.

I have hypothyroidism and have been drinking the cinnamon honey tea daily and my thyroid hormone level keeps decreasing and am in hopes that soon I will no longer need to take medication for this. I have also cut back on my sugar intake as sugar is what causes the thyroid to malfunction just as in diabetes.

    • Alex

Wow I just came upon this comment. I also have hypothyroidism, have you gotten off the medication?

  • duane overton

I have been using a little over a week. Works great for a cleanse for me and I feel like it is already working for some weight loss. I have a bad right knee but it really is feeling better. I use 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in half cup of boiling water. Stir it in good then add some cool water and then add 2 teaspoons of organic 100% honey. I full cup in morning and again at night before bed.

    • Mignon Wells

I have read so many combinations for cinnamon and honey drink. I’ve been trying 4 a week and haven’t noticed anything yet. It was half teaspoon cinnamon and one teaspoon honey in 1 cup boiling water morning and night. I decided 2 half it and drink at night and put other half in fridge. Bring back 2 room temperature and add honey 4 morning cinnamon water. After boiled the water says 2 wait half hr b4 adding honey. Im thinking by ur recipe im not taking enough cinnamon and honey. Im going to try this now. I heated water up in microwave so wasnt boiling for honey. I have bad knees too. Have to have acl done in 9 mths. Hope it helps them. Thanks

      • crystal

1 tablespoon of honey to 1 teaspoon cinnamon in warm water in a coffee cup. It worked for my arthritis once in the morning once before bed…give it about a week or two

      • apprin

Remember that when adding honey to boiling water (or any time that pure honey is heated), this kills the very enzymes that cause a balance of the minerals, sucrose, glucose and fructose of the honey when digested. Personally, I am extremely careful to add only unrefined honey (not the kind found in the grocery store) only to foods or combinations that have been cooled below 100 degrees. Otherwise the honey has become simply a sugary item with no remaining living enzymes.

      • magwa999

No boiling water as you lose all the healing properties. NEVER over 90-105F……just take a spoon and swish it around in your mouth and then swallow. Then you have a cup of tea with cinnamon. But better to buy organic Ceylon cinnamon and some local honey and make your own.

  • Wendy Stanworth

I have been using the asda’s own honey and cinnamon, but i have been using 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of honey in hot water. So far i have lost just over 4 pound but after reading some of the comments i realise that i am using to much honey whoops, but where do you get the Manuka honey from as most of you seem to be using this or is the asda’s own pure honey ok?

    • Stevo 1971

You can get Manuka Honey from Asda it comes in a squeezy bottle.

    • magwa999

Real Manuka honey is very expensive if its real, usually about $50 for a small jar. Like all honey local honey is the best. If you live in Hawaii than local would be manuka. Living in the US any good beekeeper will have raw honey. One thing to remember if you put honey in boiling water you lose all the healing properties. Honey should never be heated over 90-105 F which is what the bees keep it at. Better to take it and then have a cup of tea.

  • KH

Can you just eat it by the spoonful? I have been buying cinnamon honey from a local honey business. It’s raw & the cinnamon recommended. I have been doing a teaspoon once in am & one in pm. Or do you need to add water? Thank you

  • PC Bob

It seems that all of these recipes call for boiling water or boiling in the pot. What I have read, though, is that boiling honey kills all of the enzymes. It seems to me that merely adding it to WARM water would do just as well without damaging the enzymes. Also, I would not expect to get any sort of miraculous cure from it, though I love honey AND cinnamon. This is much healthier than all of the sugar and high fructose corn syrup we are forced to eat!

    • P. Owens

I only boil the water mix well with one tsp. cinnamon let cool 5-10 minutes then add 2 tsp. Natural raw honey. And if you’re looking for some help with weight loss try adding 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. You will lose weight it will be slow but you will keep it off.

  • Diya

Who knows were i can get Cyelon cinnamon and pure honey in khartoum.Sudan?☺️
